Rexford was originally located on the Kootenai River, but with the damming of the river in the 1970′s the original town-site was flooded and the town was moved to its current location approximately 8 miles west of Eureka on Montana Highway 37. Located in this quiet little town is the EZ-K RV Park, Koocanusa Cafe, Frontier Bar, and the Rexford Bench. The Rexford Bench Campground is a popular destination for boating, fishing and swimming on Lake Koocanusa, and hiking in the surrounding forest. Near the town of Rexford in Lincoln County commonly known and referred to as West Kootenai, the oldest Montana Amish community is found. Amish first settled here in 1974. Despite its age, the community is small, at just a single congregation. The West Kootenai community, lying a stone’s throw from the Canadian border, across the bridge on Lake Koocanusa, is known for its impressive vistas and scenic mountain views. West Kootenai Amish Community Auction, ~which helps to fund the local Amish school~ is held on the second Saturday in June each year. The Kootenai General Store during the summer has a “Friday Night Supper” there are different seating times available. Please call for more information (406) 889~3588
